Baxter's Hollow State Natural Area

At first, I was not very impressed by this park. We did an out and back that went through a forest and got very muddy very quick. It was also pretty busy, which was not very fun with a puppy learning how to walk on a leash! We ended up heading back pretty early in the hike in hopes of heading to Natural Bridge State Park, which was close by. On our way out, we decided to let the dogs stop by the creek for a little swim. Best decision ever! The creek was gorgeous! We hiked in along the creek with the dogs, and were instantly surrounded by rocks and forest. The water was very clear and there were lots of stones to get from one side to the other, I don't really have a length for how long it takes, because it depends on how far you go. The road runs parallel to the creek, so it is pretty easy to find your way back. Great for ham mocking! Its thick woods but I found plenty of spots to hang up. It's about an hour drive from Madison, but I would say its totally worth it! There is a paved road that would be fun to rollerblade on as well, or just go for a walk.

Rating: 10/10 The creek wasn't busy at all! There are also other trails throughout the natural area but they were pretty busy. We also found out after going there that dogs aren't allowed but I saw other dogs besides ours, so if you plan on bringing your pup, bring a leash for sure.
