Gibraltar Rock State Natural Area

Writer's picture: Emma HalversonEmma Halverson

We went hiking at Gibraltar a few weeks ago, but it was still so pretty! This is another mini Devil's Lake, minus the water. It's located in Lodi, WI which was about a half hour drive from Madison and a 40 minute drive from Oregon. This park was well marked, but only really had one big loop to hike. We hiked the loop and it took us 45 minutes to an hour. But the view was worth it! It overlooks rolling hills and farms in southern Wisconsin off of sharp drop cliffs. It also gave a great view of Lake Wisconsin. The park was very busy when we went, but it was also a very warm day. The trail was very easy for all ages and is great for hammocking. Dogs were also allowed there, on a leash.

Rating: 7/10

For me, the drive was a bit too long for the length of the loop and it was pretty busy. If I lived closer, this would be a great spot for a quick hike with gorgeous views!
